This post does for me what legendary Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s Kagemusha did for Ran. It serves as a dress rehearsal for their next project. In my case, this is like a dress rehearsal for my next post which will be about this year’s Academy Awards Nominees (they will be announced this Thursday). Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony was actually very good even though Award shows serve as little more than popularity contests. This year, the true standouts of the Golden Globes ceremony were the hostesses which in this case was Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The two former Saturday Night Live (SNL) comediennes were in my opinion the highlight of the evening. This is not to say that everyone else failed to live up to them, but their were some strange stuff about the speeches (i.e. Jacqueline Bisset’s awkward acceptance speech anybody). In fact, Entertainment Weekly has a good article about this stuff (see here). Not all of it was weird, but as the article implies, some of these incidents will be the most talked about of that evening. As usual, their were some films that I wish had won more awards than some of the others and their were also ones that I felt were unfairly overlooked and should have been noticed. Other than that, it was business as usual. Anyway, I present to you:
