Something Extra from Sight and Sound Magazine

Hey there my dear readers, last week (at least based on my knowledge), I finally got to see all of the voters (consisting of critics and filmmakers) who participated in last year’s Sight & Sound magazine 10-year annual poll regarding what the participants feel are the greatest films ever made. Since going on about it seems pointless (there are literally a kazillion participants), just click here to view the page and choose the page of critic or filmmaker participant that intrigues you the most 🙂 Of course this is only If it interests you all and I will be the first to admit that I have not read them all 🙂 Anyway, enjoy 🙂

  1. Hey Pete, I do not know If you noticed but various other directors who participated in the poll include (but are not limited to) Martin Scorsese, Mike Leigh and Edgar Wright among others. One thing I noticed is that Mark Kermode did not participate in the 2022 Sight & Sound poll whereas he had participated in the past two (2002 and 2012 respectively). Nevertheless, you might have noticed that Alex Cox and Mark Cousins participated 🙂

  2. I looked into Edgar Wright’s list ’cause I was interested to see what he had to say and was fascinated! I wouldn’t have pictured him listing the movies that he did–except maybe Raising Arizona. But obviously I have him pigeonholed in comedy, which is wrong, wrong, wrong, lol. I would think he’d AT LEAST, though, have mentioned It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World… which I think is comedy genius. 🙂

  3. Stacy, I am so sorry that your comments ended up in the spam bin 🙂 Thankfully, I retrieved them 🙂 You come on here so that was bizarre 🙂

  4. I hear ya Stacy 🙂 Whether or not, I feel that the films he chose were the crowning achievements of the respective directors, I love all of the films he listed 🙂 I especially loved it that he chose Mad Max: Fury Road 🙂

  5. Yeah, they are the crowning achievements. It’s a good list. And I actually loved that he picked Fury Road too. It’s also one of my favorite movies ever. Thanks for digging my response out of the trash. Computers. Can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em, lol
