-Introduction-
Last year around this time of year, I posted a blog entry regarding my Top 10 and 100 Favorite Horror Films of All-Time (read here and here). As for Halloween 2025, I have posted that big treat again, which comes in the form of my Top 100 Favorite Horror Films of All-Time. I have some new entries this time around 🙂 Now all of the films listed are not my only favorite horror films (I have an unlimited number), but this is a perfect start. I have decided to start with number 100 and work my way down to 01.
-The Opening Celebration-
First off, below are a few delightful links to check out
Click here to watch the complete 1983 music video of late iconic singer Michael Jackson’s (a.k.a. The King of Pop) song Thriller

Have any of you dear readers out there heard of The Merkins? Check out their youtube channel here. They do horror parodies of songs and one of their running acts is The Slashstreet Boys (a spoof of The Backstreet Boys) The band consists of Leatherface, Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kruegger and Ghostface Below are three of my personal favorite parodies of theirs

-A Few Words Before Reading-
Please be kind to the film at number 07 on this list because that one means a lot to me. Any comment expressing negativity towards number 07 will be deleted. So once again, please be polite 🙂
Now, without further ado, I present to you all:

Huge, and probably pretty exhaustive list there, John. I’ll have to be honest and say that there’s a lot on the list with which I am not familiar. That’s mainly due to the fact that I’m fairly picky when it comes to horror and don’t tend to stray much outside of the 1931-1970 parameters, and practically not at all after about 1990.
I guess in horror terms I am a classicist at heart.
That list really covers the genre, John. I was pleased to see ‘Onibaba’, ‘Nosferatu’ (1922), and ‘Haxan’ there, and also my personal favourite, ‘Martyrs’ (2008). Best wishes, Pete.
My favorite Horror Movie? Hmmm. ‘Invaders from Mars’ https://youtu.be/6BzsHa7pK4A?si=bvMo9ppi388WzQ7J
I think these guys invaded the WhiteHouse.
Nosferatu is still a favourite for me, but you provide a list with great options John 🙂
Hi, John! Jcalberta’s clip above, suggesting this was who invaded the White House, is pretty funny.
As said above also, SO many films I’m not familiar with. Really an impressive list!
There are some of these that we only see every five or seven years or so: Jacob’s Ladder, Rosemary’s Baby, The Shining. Then some we see once and never again, which is weird, but Let the Right One In is one of those. No idea why we’ve never revisited it, ’cause I recall it being very creepy and enjoyable.
The Fly, too–so many years ago.
But we see The Exorcist every other year at least. Such a slow, anxiety-filled buildup, and such great acting.
Same with The Birds. That’s hubby’s favorite Hitch movie of all time.
I was disappointed initially with Annihilation, but it’s grown on me a lot over time. I’m thinking I was possibly SO creeped out the first time I saw it, I just went into denial that I hadn’t enjoyed it, lol
But Shaun of the Dead is a comedy favorite that we watch every few years.
Have you ever seen This Is The End? If you’re not a Seth Rogan fan, you won’t like it. But if you are, you’ll love it. We saw it again the other night and were pretty much belly laughing from start to finish.
I did watch that Stacy and I want to sincerely apologize for not responding back 🙂 Problem is I am still without a laptop and am using a home computer. Anyway, I love hearing your thoughts as always and I hope you had a great Halloween 🙂
So sorry for the late reply June 🙂 Still without a laptop I am afraid 😦 Yes, Nosferatu (both versions) are great, but yes, the 1922 version is the still the number one favorite 🙂
Sorry for the late reply jcalberta – I am still without a laptop 😦 I loved your response regarding your favorite horror film and your reference to our current president LOL 🙂
Sorry for the late response Pete 🙂 I am still without a laptop 😦 All of those are great horror films indeed 🙂
Interestingly enough, I am a classicist at heart too Colin regarding cinema, but I do love eras beyond that too 🙂 So sorry for the late response 🙂 The problem is I am still without a laptop and using a home computer 😦
Hope all is resolved with your laptop soon John
No apologies necessary! We know you’re reading and absorbing all responses. 🙂 One way or another!
Great list, John! I’ve seen 54 of the ones listed here and many of the ones I haven’t I plan on seeing eventually. I was thrilled to see Pearl there too. One of my favorite modern horror movies, along with Eggers’ Nosferatu and Coogler’s Sinners.
By the way, I’ve nominated you for a Sunshine Blogger Award: https://nitrateglow.wordpress.com/2025/11/21/walking-on-more-sunshine/
