  1. You know I love me some PTA. There Will Be Blood is my favorite. In fact it’s one of my all time favorite films. Then Magnolia. To me, both of this films are so bracingly original. Then I would have to say Boogie Nights, The Master, Hard Eight and Phantom Thread. I love all of these films. To me PTA is both a director’s director and an actor’s director. Equally. He has a high art concept of film direction and then he pulls out such great assemble performances from his actors. I love him.
That said, I didn’t like Punch Drunk Love and the jury’s still out on Inherent Vice. I watched it once and didn’t like it, but there were some intriguing things in there that I usually go for so I watched it again and liked it somewhat better. I’m going to watch it again. If I still don’t like it or if I’m meh, then I’ll be through with it. I hope I end up loving it.

  2. Interesting ranking there 🙂 I think the biggest difference between me and you with Paul Thomas Anderson is that I am a bigger fan of his later work beginning with Punch-Drunk Love whereas you seemed to support him from day one (or at least for the most part). Anyway, thanks for dropping by 🙂
