Allan Dwan’s filmography is absolutely huge—more than a hundred and thirty features, and nearly three hundred silent shorts, in career that ran from 1911 to 1961. Sadly I haven’t seen more than a handful of his movies, most are rarely screened and unavailable on Blu-ray or DVD.
I know the feeling. The ones I mention are either easy to find or available in some kind of home video format despite their obscurity. Sad because to have made a 100 or so films in one’s own career feels like a milestone. I read somewhere that Ryan O’ Neal’s character in Peter Bogdanovich’s Nickelodeon (1976) is partly based on him as well as Raoul Walsh. Anyway, thanks for dropping by 🙂
