  1. Hi John,

Glad that you remembered both Children of Men and The Little Princess. I knew that Cuaron was special after seeing the latter.

I hope you are not going too stir-crazy at this time. We always have the movies to distract us. I am even thinking of subscribing to the Criterion Channel

    Keep posting!

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

  2. Children of Men was, but like 12 Monkeys, it is such a thought-provoking studio film (coincidentally, Universal serves as the distributor of both). What else can be said about Roma by now other than it is a masterpiece 🙂 Anyway, thanks for dropping by 🙂

P.S. you doing fine in the wake of the Coronavirus?

  3. I am doing fine right now and I just want this Coronavirus epidemic to go away. Yeah, Cuaron is indeed a special filmmaker. A Little Princess was actually the first Cuaron film I saw and I greatly admired it. Ever since he fulfilled that promise with 2001’s Y Tu Mama Tambien, I have been a huge fan. Anyway, thanks for dropping by 🙂

P.S. I think you should subscribe to Criterion Channel, you will love a lot of their stuff 🙂

  4. you know, of course, that 12 Monkeys was based on the amazing Chris Marker film La Jetee. I have never seen 12 Monkeys, almost because I didn’t want it to interfere with my love for La Jetee!

My friend in my building subscribed to the Criterion Channel and he loves it. I think I may do the annual membership, especially since I know I can Chromecast it.

This time is all so weird. I live in a big, very friendly apartment house and even though we were all on lockdown, it was good to know that we were close to other people. I have a good feeling that the worst of it will be over fast….but I am always an optimist.

I have been teaching via Zoom, and that has been terrific!

Anyway, as you say, keep up the good work. I need to write some more on my blog.

    Stay tuned and be well!

I too am hoping for the same outcome Mitchell 🙂 I am also aware that 12 Monkeys was a remake (or semi-remake) of La Jetee. I love La Jetee as well 🙂 Zoom sounds interesting the way you describe it.
