Since I could not find a youtube video link to Moviedrome presenter Mark Cousins introduction to director Mike Figgis 1991 mystery drama Liebestraum, readers will have to read Cousins intro transcript here. The episode’s original airdate was February 8, 1998 (read here). Despite it’s atmosphere, the drama never really gels like it should. As Cousins so eloquently implies, the best reason to see Liebestraum lies in the appearance of the great Kim Novak in a supporting role, which as of 2022, marks her last film to date.
Here is a youtube video link to the film’s original theatrical trailer
I have never seen this film, John. It didn’t appeal to me at the time.
Best wishes, Pete.
Like Pete, I too haven’t seen Liebestraum. I would be curious to watch it, if only to see Kim Novak’s final film appearance.
I read somewhere Paul that Kim Novak’s experiences behind-the-scenes on this film may or may not have played a role in her deciding to retire from acting π Anyway, thanks for dropping by π
I hear ya Pete π I think Stormy Monday (at least for me) may still be director Mike Figgis strongest film π Anyway, thanks for dropping by π
