What Have I Accomplished in 2023?

For anybody familiar who comes on this site, last year around this time, I posted a blog entry entitled 5 Goals I Hope to Accomplish in 2023 (click here). In it, I listed what I hoped to accomplish for that year. So have I succeeded? Let us look at the result below:

  1. Write more reviews on the poliziotteschi films that Steve (a regular visitor of this site) has recommended to me (I have accomplished the task of watching these gems).

Goal Mostly Met. Steve (click here to view his youtube channel) will be more than thrilled to hear that I have seen just about every poliziotteschi film that he has recommended to me. What I have not achieved yet is writing the reviews of them. Nevertheless, I will call this a step in the right direction.
  2. Resume my Moviedrome Monday entries (I only have two more seasons to cover).

Goal Unfulfilled. Though I do not live in the UK where the show was broadcasted, I mostly got information about the episodes from the Internet, which is also where I find various old intros to the films being shown and offer my take on them. Take note, that not every intro is available online. Click here to read the first one I ever offered commentary on.
  3. Write more blog entries.

Goal 50% Met. Read number 4.
  4. To start on writing a series of blog entries regarding the rankings of great films directed by my favorite directors.

Goal 50% Met. Mid-2023 is when I started doing blog entries regarding how I rank all the great films of my favorite directors. It is true that I have not even finished the A last names yet, but once again, a step in the right direction.
  5. Comment more on the blog entries of my fellow readers (i.e. Paul S, Pete etc.).

Goal 50% Met. I have catched as many of their posts as I have missed them. Either way, I would like to leave more replies on the sites of bloggers I have regularly visited in the past. While reading Paul S Pfeiffer Films and Meg Movies site (click here), I was introduced to a new blogger by the name of Michael and his site entitled The Starfire Lounge (click here) is every bit as fantastic as all the other bloggers I frequent.

So let’s see, I have fulfilled one 2023 goal and accomplished 50 percent of three others and missed only one. Not bad, but I still hope to do better this year, which is 2024 🙂

John Charet’s Favorite Films (1-100) (2023 Edition)

-Introduction-

Last year around this time on my blog, I posted a list of my top 10 favorite films of all-time in response to Sight & Sound magazine’s 10-year annual poll of the greatest films ever made according to the votes of participating critics and filmmakers. Readers can view my list again by clicking here. This year, I wanted to expand it to 100 for those who are interested. Also, my answer is yes to anybody wondering If the number of my favorite films of all-time possibly exceeds that of a zillion. As one can see below, I have decided to start with number 100 and going down from there (i.e. 99, 98 and so forth). Before I go any further, I will not tolerate any insults or negativity towards numbers 1, 8, 18, 24, 25 and 99 on here. So I am politely asking all of you to not bash them. Now, without further ado, here are my top 100 favorite films of all-time. Enjoy 🙂
